FREE account for children

Most often, we recommend opening an account once the child is 8 or older. At that time, schoolchildren start to be more independent and often receive their first pocket money. At Raiffeisenbank, we also issue payment cards to child accounts for children aged 8 or older. However, you can certainly open an account for the child earlier. For example, right after birth.

Children under the age of 15 have limited powers. Once they reach 8 years of age, they can use a payment card, pay with it in shops and online, and withdraw cash. You, as a parent, can see all their activity, how often and what they spend on. You are the official administrator of the account and set up limits for your child. The limits apply to both payments and ATM withdrawals. Students over 18 years of age already keep the account under their full control.

We only issue payment cards to children over 8 years of age. Stop by at one of our branches with your child and we will get everything done in no time.

As soon as he or she is of legal age – that is, from the age of 18. Until then, his or her statutory representative must also be present when opening the account.

Our AKTIVNÍ účet for children and students is a multi-currency account that lets you keep up to 17 different currencies under one account number. In addition to Czech crowns, you can hold euros, dollars and many others. And just one debit card is all you need. This can be useful, for example, for families where there are parents of two nationalities, when traveling frequently or when staying abroad.

Once the student no longer meets the conditions for free use of the AKTIVNÍ account, we will charge the regular fee of 49 CZK per month. However, this can be easily avoided. Switching from AKTIVNÍ účet to our CHYTRÝ účet without fees is all that it takes.

For children, we set up 5,000 CZK weekly limits:

• 3,000 CZK for a debit card (of which 2,000 CZK for payments and 1,000 CZK for ATM withdrawals)
• 2,000 CZK for wire transfers

For the time being, the limits can only be changed at a branch, and the child does not have to be present. We are working to make it easier to adjust the limits.
