Internet Banking Security

Security is your highest priority and therefore we pay maximum attention to it. Multi-level security for accessing eKonto Business services ensures top quality protection using the highest information security standards.

Advantages for You

  • The multi-level, i.e. two-element, security solution of eKonto Business requires that you have an independent electronic key and know the access code to the key.
  • Security codes provided by electronic keys are valid for one transaction at the given moment only; they cannot be used again.
  • Most communication devices used by the bank enable encrypting of transmitted information.
  • There are several types of security that can be replaced if necessary.

Description of Direct Banking Tools

Direct Banking tools fulfill the following two basic functions:
Authentication: provable verification of the client’s identity. Based on the authentication code, the bank will find out whether it communicates with the person authorised to carry out transactions on the specific account.

Certification: clear confirmation of correctness of a transmitted instruction. The electronic key serves as a tool for creating the electronic signature; by certification, you sign your instruction. By verifying the certification code of an instruction, it is possible to find out whether the instruction sent to the bank was modified by an unauthorised person. In the case that the certification code is wrong, the bank will not carry out the instruction.

Mobile Electronic Key

In the case that you are using a mobile phone in the networks T-Mobile, O 2 or Vodafone, you can easily use your phone as a tool for securing your financial transactions and accessing your account thanks to SIM Toolkit technology that most mobile phones have installed nowadays. Access to Mobile Electronic Key in your phone is protected with a special PIN (BPIN); entire communication with the bank is encrypted. You can use Mobile Electronic Key in any territory that is covered by your mobile phone operator or its roaming partner (i.e. abroad as well). You will also save money – contrary to other types of security, Mobile Electronic Key does not generate any additional costs.
Technical requirements: a SIM card supporting SIM Toolkit technology (Bank SIM) and a mobile phone supporting SIM Toolkit technology (your mobile phone operator will inform you about mobile phones supporting this technology).

SMS Mobile Electronic Key

In the case that you are using a foreign telephone number or SIM card that does not support SIM Toolkit technology, you can still use your mobile phone to secure your financial transactions and access your account through the Internet. To access your account through the Internet, use your mobile phone and the four-digit code I-PIN (for phone communication with the client line 800 900 900, use the four-digit code T-PIN). You will obtain the codes I-PIN and T-PIN at a branch when activating SMS Mobile Electronic Key; however, you can change it at any time on the Internet.
Technical requirements: a mobile phone supporting SMS service.

Personal Electronic Key

Personal Electronic Key is a universal hardware tool for securing your financial transactions and accessing your account. You can use Personal Electronic Key anywhere, regardless of  mobile network coverage and hardware of the used computer. Personal Electronic Key is protected with a four-digit PIN.

Safety Instructions and Principles

Nowadays, protection of funds and personal information, on the Internet in particular, requires cautious behavior. We recommend to our clients to observe the following measures when using online financial services:

  • Use only trustworthy services and always make sure that you communicate with the service provider. When accessing your account and entering instructions, check whether connection is properly secured and communicate with the bank (check the validity and data in the SSL security certificate; bank certificates are issued by VeriSign, Inc.). If you are not sure whether you really are communicating with the bank, call our toll-free phone line.
  • Protect your Electronic Keys, passwords, PINs and personal information. Choose such passwords and PINS that are not easy to guess or deduct based on your information. The bank never requests to enter or confirm this information by email. If someone requests such information from you, please inform Raiffeisenbank.
  • Check transactions on your account and card payments on a regular basis. In the case that you are using a payment card for paying on the Internet, get an Internet payment card. Activate the service Inform Me! that will inform you about transactions on eKonto. In case of any discrepancy, please contact Raiffeisenbank immediately.
  • Use only financial services that come from a trustworthy and properly secured computer, do not use computers that you know nothing about or are in an untrustworthy environment. The computer should be protected by a properly configured firewall and anti-virus and anti-spyware software that should be regularly updated. Ask an expert about a proper security setting of your computer.
  • Do not use and install any untrustworthy software to the computer that you are using for financial services, do not go to any untrustworthy websites and do not open any suspicious emails (emails from unknown senders, emails with an absurd subject, etc.), in particular do not open any attachments of such emails. Raiffeisenbank does not send any unsolicited emails with links to its website. In the case that you receive an email with such a link, do not respond to it and please inform Raiffeisenbank.
  • If you do not know what to do, call our nonstop toll-free line  800 900 900.
